Synopsis[]
Six troubled human souls - including timid newcomer and series protagonist Pomni; trouble-making rascal Jax; cheerful optimist Ragatha; emotionally fragile Gangle; moody perfectionist Zooble; and paranoid veteran Kinger - find themselves trapped in the Amazing Digital Circus, a virtual reality game run by a quirky but oblivious artificial intelligence named Caine and his enthusiastic assistant Bubble. Along with the five other souls, Pomni is sent by Caine on a variety of inadvertently relentless and sometimes quite traumatic adventures while trying to maintain her sanity and discover some type of path back to the real world.
Production[]
Gooseworx is an independent animator and musician, having made shorts on YouTube such as Little Runmo, and working on the music for Hazbin Hotel. While working on the latter, she was recruited by Glitch with the offer to become a showrunner, in which she pitched The Amazing Digital Circus.[1]
Characters[]
Humans[]
- Pomni (voiced by Lizzie Freeman) is the main protagonist of the show. She takes on the form of a blue and red jester and has a timid, paranoid, and sensitive personality.
- Jax (voiced by Michael Kovach) is a purple rabbit donning red overalls, typically characterized by his mischievous, impolite, and sarcastic behavior, yet harboring a subtle, tender side.
- Ragatha (voiced by Amanda Hufford) is a rag doll with one eye. Known as "the sweetest little optimist," she consistently seeks the silver lining in every situation as a way to maintain her sanity.
- Gangle (voiced by Marissa Lenti) is composed of red ribbons and adorns fragile comedy and tragedy masks that seem to influence her emotional state.
- Zooble (voiced by Ashley Nichols) is a mix-and-match toy that displays a solitary and empathetic nature, balanced by a hot-headed temperament, later shown to dislike their body and how jumbled it is.
- Kinger (voiced by Sean Chiplock) is a king chess piece, being the circus's longest-standing member. He grapples with instability, marked by paranoia and anxiety that briefly subsides when engulfed in darkness.
Abstracted[]
- Kaufmo (voiced by WizardzWiz[2][note 1]) is the main antagonist of the pilot. Before being abstracted and becoming a bloodthirsty monster, Kaufmo was a friendly clown who seemed to be offended when people didn't find his jokes amusing.
- Queenie is a minor character of the show. She is suspected to be connected to Kinger due to their similar appearance, and it was later revealed that she was indeed Kinger’s wife.
Artificial Intelligence[]
- Caine (Creative Artificial Intelligence Networking Entity)[3] (voiced by Alex Rochon) is an AI that runs the Digital Circus and has the human souls go on adventures to keep their mental state intact.
- Bubble (voiced by Gooseworx) is an AI made by Caine to act as his sidekick.
- The Gloinks are the secondary antagonists of the pilot and possibly longer. They steal items and captured Zooble.
- The Gloink Queen (voiced by Elsie Lovelock) is a major antagonist in the pilot and possibly longer. She sees herself as superior to all, and believes that everybody should be a Gloink, including God.
- Gummigoo (voiced by Jack Hawkins) is the antagonist (turned deuteragonist) of the second episode. He and his gang steal syrup from the Candy Canyon Kingdom. He is killed by Caine at the end of the episode.
- Princess Loolilalu (voiced by Vera Tan) is a supporting character in the second episode. She is the princess of Candy Canyon Kingdom.
- The Fudge (voiced by Lyle Rath) is a minor antagonist in the second episode. He was the Candy Kingdom's moat guard before being banished by Princess Loolilalu for eating too many of the citizens.
- Angel (voiced by Peyton Goodwin) is the secondary antagonist of the third episode. It is a messenger of God that was beheaded and mounted on a wall by Baron Mildenhall after driving him mad.
- Baron Mildenhall (voiced by Tim Alexander) is the primary antagonist of the third episode. After killing his own wife, mistaking her for the Angel, he killed himself. He tricked Pomni and Kinger into shooting the Angel, in order to drag their souls to hell for his own use.
- Martha Mildenhall (voiced by Marrisa Lenti) is a supporting character in the third episode. She was the wife of Baron Mildenhall who harbors no hard feelings towards him.

Trivia[]
- The show is currently set to run for one season consisting of nine episodes.[4][5]
- This is the second Glitch show to be created by a non-Australian showrunner (as Gooseworx is an American), the first being Murder Drones, created by American animator Liam Vickers.
- Additionally, this is the first Glitch show to be created by a female showrunner.
- Gooseworx is most well known for having created animations such as Little Runmo, Elaine the Bounty Hunter, Elaine gets Adopted, and Ghost of the Year, as well as the web comic Horde of Heroes.
- Gooseworx described the show as I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream with the aesthetic of an I Spy book[6]. Additionally, the series is inspired by the anime Popee the Performer[7], The Stanley Parable,[8][9] early 2000s pre-rendered video games and colored toys from her childhood[10].
- Gooseworx later elaborated on the former comparison regarding Caine, noting that "instead of AM being the living embodiment of hate, he's a fun-loving wacky little guy".[11]
- Another difference between I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream and The Amazing Digital Circus is the number of humans involved. For the former there's 5 humans (4 males and 1 female), while the latter has 6 humans (3 females, 2 males and 1 with an undefined gender).
- The series' soundtrack is inspired by Bo En and her Snipperclips soundtrack.[10][12]
- Gooseworx was previously asked if she would collaborate with SMG4 on her CuriousCat account, which, at that point, she had been unaware of him.
- The Amazing Digital Circus marks Lizzie Freeman's return to Glitch after a leave of absence in mid-2022, as she freed up her schedule in the meantime.[13]
- Gooseworx has stated that none of the characters in the show have genitals.[14]
- The circus members' designs are all based on forms of entertainment.
- Pomni is based on jesters.
- Ragatha is based on ragdolls.
- Jax is based on cartoons like Looney Tunes, or flexible rubber toys.
- Gangle is based on dramas.
- Kinger is based on chess.
- Zooble is based on mix-and-match toys, like Zolo toys.[12]
- Kaufmo is based on clowns.
- At first Gooseworx didn't want to reveal any of the ages of the characters, but after being asked nonstop she finally gave in and revealed the ages.
- From what information the public has been given, the order of the current 6 circus members arriving are as follows:
- Kinger is the first to arrive at the circus and has said to have been there the longest[15]
- Next is Ragatha who has been inside the circus the second longest next to Kinger[16]
- Jax came up with Gangle's name which most likely means that he had to be at the circus before she arrived[17]
- Finally, Zooble has been confirmed to have spent the shortest amount of time in the circus before Pomni[18]
- The only characters who haven’t swore in the series so far are Ragatha and Caine.
- After the release of the Pilot. Some fans have been asking if Digital Circus was going to made for kids due to its child friendly background and Caine mentioned that it is made for all ages and things like profanity are censored with sound effects. The creators said that it is planned to be a much darker show due to its horror themes.
- Gooseworx has stated that the show will later be for "weird" people in their 20s[19] while GLITCH has stated it's for people 13-24.[20]
